Home-made concoction for the scalp

February 21, 2013 — 8:08pm

Scalp psoriasis is stubborn and remedies are expensive. After years of using costly products, I now make my own.

I buy a tube of over the counter cortisone cream from a “dollar store” and squeeze 1/3 into a plastic bottle. I add enough hot water to make a thin lotion. I then add Neutrogena T-Gel conditioner (any salicylic acid product — like Dermarest — will do) and shake vigorously to mix.

I generously coat the scalp and leave on overnight. This works well for several days and provides immediate relief when the itching gets unbearable. It’s cheap, doesn’t stink, washes out well and stops flaking. Just don’t get it in the eyes. I do this about once a week.

I know also that sugar and junk food aggravate my scalp psoriasis.

Editor’s note;
Care and caution should be used when mixing products together. Check with a pharmacist for safety issues before combing products on your own.
