NSAIDs for arthritis, Dovonex, tar and vitamin E for psoriasis

February 22, 2013 — 10:54pm
I am a little reluctant to write this because no two people react to the medications in the same way. I have had psoriasis for nearly 40 years, and I’ve tried many, many different medications. I also have the arthritis to go with it. I have found the nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) work differently... Read more »

Sugar and milk scrub

February 18, 2013 — 9:54pm
Mix brown sugar and milk in a glass, rub it on your psoriasis spots and rinse it off in the shower. The lactic acid in the milk helps to loosen the plaques and the sugar gently exfoliates your skin. Read more »

Elbow sleeves or plastic wrap

February 6, 2013 — 7:38pm
I found the best way to remove plaques from areas like the elbows and knees is to moisturize with your favorite lotion then cover it so the plaques can soften. You can use plastic wrap but I have elbow sleeves that hold in the moisture. You leave them on for a few hours and then... Read more »

Petroleum Jelly

February 6, 2013 — 6:37pm
Having had psoriasis for 35 years, I have tried everything. I have found that my medications work best if I can achieve removal of the plaques and creating access to the underlying skin. Applying a thick, but not too thick, layer of petroleum jelly at bedtime and leaving it there overnight really helps. I have... Read more »

Dermovate & occlusion

January 30, 2013 — 11:18pm
I use Dermovate steroid cream and occlusion. I find that when I cover the soles of my feet and use vinyl gloves at night this really helps to stop cracking and bleeding, however, if I don’t do it for two days its back with a vengeance. The plaques are still noticeable but baby smooth. It’s... Read more »

Pain goes away and skin cracks quickly close up in a few hours. The packaging says the product... Read more »

T.G.

January 11, 2013 — 10:25pm
When I used to have hair and plaques on my scalp, I would use Nioxin scalp therapy and wear a shower cap. I would leave it on over night. The next morning, I would rinse it off and even though I still had redness, all the flakes were gone- at least for a day or... Read more »

Alternative Tip

January 11, 2013 — 7:28pm
Vitamin D is my miracle alternative treatment. In 2 months the severe plaques which covered my arms, legs and torso are 60 percent clear! My lab results showed a vitamin D deficiency of 17 on a scale of 20-50. I started taking 4000 units of over-the-counter vitamin D and by coincidence the plaques started to... Read more »

The right shampoo

January 9, 2013 — 12:25am
I have very long hair and had a hard time finding a scalp treatment that would not take forever to wash out. I got a prescription for Dermasmooth from my doctor and love this product. It smells decent, washes out easily, and removes all of the plaques on my scalp with very little time commitment.... Read more »
